This Is Part 1

The orc died with out sound, gouts of blood spewing from its neck. No nearby orcs heard the sound. My job this time was from a powerful wizard. “What you are looking for John is a powerful book of magical runes. The last known location of it is in an orc camp one hundred miles from here in the east. You will recognize the book because it's written on troll skin the wizard Akaka said. The journey to Black Valley which was the location of the camp was filled with danger.

“Finally I’m here, lots of close calls so far” I murmured, as I search the hairy green humanoid of anything use full. All I found were bits of bone and wool. Shaking myself out of wandering thoughts, I looked down into the Valley, at the far away camp. There were about fifteen tents, surrounded on all sides by a circle of stakes stuck in the ground. With the orc sentry out of the way there was a clear path to the bottom of the valley.

I started down the steep incline packed with moss encrusted trees. I was near invisible to the eyes, for I was dressed in all black. A black shirt, dark pants and a black hood pull down on my face. I reached the floor of the valley and climbed an tree for a closer look at the camp. Scanning the area I saw a camp filled with brutish orcs fighting, drinking and generally acting like brutish apes.

The leader, or warboss as the orcs say, was probably in the fur skin tent a ways back from the mass of Greenskins. Orc leaders most of time are smarter than the run of the mill orc. So the warboss had placed his shelter under an overhang of rock to stop the elements. “The item I’m looking for is likely with the leader” I said to no one in particular.

I froze. There were foot falls coming towards the tree. Suddenly an orc burst out of the dense bush right under me. I didn’t so much as breathe. Ever so slowly I reached into a concealed bag and drew out my blow gun. With extreme care I took out a dart and in one fluid motion, loaded and blew into the mouth piece. The dart hit the oblivious orc in the neck. He slumped silently to the ground, the poison had worked instantly.
